Padel Rules
Basic Rules
- Padel is played in doubles (2 vs 2)
- Court size: 20m x 10m (65.6ft x 32.8ft)
- Net height: 88cm (34.6in) in center, 92cm (36.2in) at posts
- Walls are part of the game - ball can bounce off walls
- Matches are best of 3 sets
Scoring System
- Same as tennis: 15, 30, 40, game
- Deuce at 40-40
- Advantage scoring after deuce
- Set is won by first team to win 6 games with 2 game difference
- Tiebreak at 6-6 (first to 7 points, win by 2)
Serving Rules
- Underhand serve only
- Ball must bounce in opponent's service box
- Ball can hit side wall after bounce
- Two serves allowed per point
- Server must stand behind service line
Wall Rules
- Ball can bounce off any wall after hitting the ground
- Ball can be played directly off walls (no bounce required)
- Ball can't hit fence before bouncing
- Ball can't go over fence without bouncing
Equipment Rules
- Padel racket must be solid with holes
- Maximum racket length: 45.5cm (17.9in)
- Maximum racket width: 26cm (10.2in)
- Maximum racket thickness: 38mm (1.5in)
- Padel balls are similar to tennis balls but with less pressure
Common Fouls
- Hitting ball before it crosses net
- Ball hitting player or clothing
- Ball hitting fence before bouncing
- Overhand serve
- Ball bouncing twice before return
Safety Rules
- Always wear proper sports shoes
- Check court surface before playing
- Be aware of other players' positions
- Use proper warm-up exercises
- Stay hydrated during play
Etiquette
- Respect opponent's line calls
- Wait for opponent to be ready before serving
- Return balls to server promptly
- Keep noise level appropriate
- Clean up after your session
